I started off with an idea of a poncho, and began knitting in the round, thinking it could be as simple as that. As soon as I started and halfway into my first ball of yarn, I figured out that I needed to follow a pattern. I needed to know when to decrease to create the dome effect around the shoulders. And so I found this pattern.
Since I didn't start off with the pattern, I had to modify the one I found to the one I had started. I didn't follow the Modadea pattern closely, either. Since I'm short, I decided to not knit it as long as the pattern required and left out a few rows here and there.

Yarn: Manos del Uruguay (3 balls)
Needle: US 8
Pattern: modified Modadea pattern
Cast on 180
Rnd 1,2,3: K1, P1
Next Rnd: Knit until 9" from beginning
Pick up on Modadea pattern starting at Rnd: : [K13, K2tog] 12 times – 168 sts.
Instead of knitting the next 7 rounds, Knit 6 rounds for the rest of the pattern.
End last 3 rounds with K1, P1
I left out the turtle neck, I don't like them. I think my poncho is a little too big, next time I won't cast on as many.
